Our internship program gives you a unique opportunity to work alongside India’s leading exotic pet veterinarians, learn evidence-based medicine, and participate in the rehabilitation of urban wildlife.

Veterinary Internship Program Options

We offer two flexible duration options to fit your schedule:

2-Week Veterinary Internship

4-Week Veterinary Internship

During your time at our clinic, you will:

Assist veterinarians in treating exotic pets and small animals.

Work with Indian urban wildlife including jackals, sea turtles, snakes, and birds.

Observe and assist in veterinary surgeries and diagnostic procedures.

Participate in teaching sessions on veterinary medicine, surgical practices, and exotic care.

Learn the essentials of hospitalization management for exotic species and dietary requirements for birds, reptiles, and mammals.

About Dr. Rina Dev’s Animal and Bird Clinic

Located in Mumbai, Dr. Rina Dev’s Animal and Bird Clinic specializes in exotic animal medicine and small animal care. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including in-house radiology, diagnostic microscopy, and blood testing.

We are the only veterinary hospital in India specializing in exotic pets, offering services such as:

• Exotic Pet Consultations for birds (macaws, cockatoos), rabbits, turtles, snakes, and more.

Learning Opportunities During the Internship

1. Veterinary treatment and care for exotic pets such as macaws, cockatoos, turtles, and snakes.

2. Involvement in the treatment and rehabilitation of urban wildlife like jackals, civets, and sea turtles.

3. Hands-on experience in various veterinary surgeries and fracture repairs for animals such as civets and pythons.

4. Post-surgical care and critical care for small and exotic animals.

5. Training in the dietary and nutritional management of exotic pets.

6. Participation in wildlife conservation efforts through the Ri Wild Sanctuary Project.

Accommodation for Veterinary Interns

Interns are provided accommodation at the clinic’s bungalow, shared with another intern. Basic cooking facilities are available, and interns can also opt for a home tiffin service.

Veterinary Internship Program Fees

• Indian Students:

2 Weeks: ₹25,000

4 Weeks: ₹45,000

• International Students/Veterinarians/Pre-vet:

2 Weeks: ₹35,000

4 Weeks: ₹65,000

A portion of the fees supports Ri Wild Sanctuary, our ongoing project dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of urban wildlife in Maharashtra.

About Ri Wild Sanctuary

Founded by Dr. Rina Dev, the Ri Wild Sanctuary focuses on the rescue and rehabilitation of urban wildlife in Mumbai and surrounding areas. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Rina Dev has been a pioneer in wildlife conservation, working closely with NGOs and the Forest Department to save endangered species.

Our sanctuary’s mission includes:

• Rehabilitation of rescued wildlife, including reptiles, birds, and small mammals.

• Public awareness programs on urban wildlife care and snake bite prevention.

• Data collection for wildlife research and conservation efforts.

• Spay-neuter programs for stray animals to reduce overpopulation.

Dr. Rina Dev, Avian & Wildlife Vet, President, RiWild Santuary has been working with wildlife and small animal rescue over the last 2 decades, since her student days and offering her honorary services to various NGO's, Forest Departments and Individual Rescuers for treatment and rehabilitation of rescued wildlife.
